Business Development Internship

Business development has most potential where there is room and potential for growth. Asia is the fastest-growing economic region in the world. Different businesses are seeing large potential in the Asian market and moving to establish a foothold here. Business is booming like never before. This makes Asia an ideal environment to gain invaluable experience.

If you are looking for an internship that will familiarize you with many different parts of a business, then business development is for you. You will find yourself working on sales, marketing, strategic management, and customer relationship, amongst other things. With this internship, you will learn hands-on how to develop a business.

From dynamic SMEs to large multinational corporations, our network of partner companies encompasses them all. What you need from a business development internship, we can find for you. Whether the business is local, regional or international, they can all offer valuable insight into the company’s inner workings for interested interns.

Past AIP Business Development interns have been involved and worked on the following projects:

  • Conducting research and identifying potential partnerships with other companies.
  • Reaching out to current partner companies to explore new opportunities and projects.
  • Working alongside business development managers to analyze current markets status, competitor analysis, and testing ideas for business expansion.
  • Conducting business development projects by maintaining databases of large international corporations, preparing presentations and sales pitches, and setting up meetings.
  • Actively managing sales processes from lead generation to signed agreements.

Note that all AIP interns are given a personal supervisor who will train, monitor and guide you throughout your international internship experience.

Internship tasks will vary from company to company, as well as intern to intern. These are only examples of tasks that were carried out from previous interns.

AIP Business Development Internship Scope

Depending on their internship requirements and the available internship positions in our partner companies, prospective interns may work in any of the following (or other) disciplines during their Business Development Internship with AIP:

Sales: the role of sales representatives in a company is simply to help customers find what they want, provide appropriate (alternative) solutions where necessary, persuade them to buy, and make the purchase experience smooth for the customer. Sales representatives also generate new sales leads for the company.

Marketing: Before the ball gets to the court of the sales representative, a marketer will have to create interest in the product or service. Marketers generate this interest in the target audience using skillfully crafted advertising and promotional campaigns.

Strategic Management: this involves the regular assessment, analysis, planning and monitoring of everything a business needs in order to achieve its goals and objectives. Strategic managers ensure an organization’s long-term success and profitability by carrying out the functions above.

Customer Relationship Management: a customer relationship manager oversees and tries to improve the interactions of a company with its potential and existing customers using relevant customer data.

The Demand for Experienced Business Developers Worldwide

Businesses are always looking for ways to acquire new customers while selling additional products and services to existing ones. In fact, they cannot possibly thrive or survive without doing so.

Business development executives serve as a point of execution in the markets business’s target, and they are also a major source of vital information as regards market conditions and dynamics.

On the other hand, they use their skills to sell a business’s ideas, products and services to its target market. If a business were a vehicle, then business development personnel would be the tires.

For these reasons and more, the role of a business developer is a very crucial one in any business, and experienced business developers are always in very high demand across different industries and in most job sectors, whether its business-to-business (B2B), or business-to-customer (B2C).

The Role of Business Development in an Economy

Businesses, especially big ones, serve as an anchor of economic stability in every country of the world. This is because these businesses create a large number of jobs in different sectors, and these jobs, in turn, generate income for the masses who then channel it back into the system again by purchasing goods and services from businesses, thus creating a symbiotic circle that drives the economy.

However, a business cannot be an anchor of economic stability if it’s not acquiring new customers, selling more products and services to existing ones, and growing in other ways.

Since a healthy economy requires the growth and sustainability of businesses within it, the role of business development in any economy is therefore a vital one.

Business failure negatively impacts not only the owners of the business, but also the inhabitants of the locality in which the business is situated. By helping a company generate more business, business developers ensure that this company remains fit and prosperous; and when it is prosperous, the owner(s) of the company, and the community-at-large, profit.

When a community is thriving due to the presence of prosperous and sustainable businesses, its economy in general is positively impacted. Economic development simply cannot be sustained in the absence of successful business development.
