Madrid Overview

Madrid, Spain's capital, is a beautiful and grandiose city. It attracts thousands of tourists every year because of the elegant European architecture and Spanish culture preserved for thousands of years.

But beyond being the historically mesmerising capital of Spain, Madrid is also the largest economic hub for the country. With both local and foreign investors flocking to the main capital, many industries are flourishing in Madrid and contributing to Spain's economy.

Internship Opportunities in Madrid

Since Madrid is the main financial centre of the country, there are many industries that are set up in the capital city. One of them includes manufacturing.

Some of Madrid's main manufacturing products are motor vehicles, aircraft, vehicles, processed food and pharmaceuticals. Even if it is not the main economic centre of Spain, Valencia is rich in culture and tradition. Valencia has its own language, unique cuisine and great outdoor infrastructures that allow people to cycle and to walk comfortably around the city.

Visa information

For EU nationals, applicants are not required to obtain a student visa to do an internship in Spain if their stay is less than 90 days. However, citizens from EU countries who are not part of the Schengen agreement need to carry a valid Schengen visa to enter Spain.

Students who are not from the EU must apply for a Schengen Student Visa to complete an internship in Spain for a course shorter and longer than 90 days. The Short-term Student Visa allows students to do an internship for up to 6 months.

Students from countries that are eligible for a visa-free entry of 90 days can participate in an internship without a student visa. Those who do not qualify for a visa-free entry need to apply for the Schengen Student Visa.

The application must be made at a Spanish embassy/consulate in their home country. Apply online and one of our staff can help to inform you which type of visa you are eligible to apply for.

Our process

1. Apply
Click "Apply Now", fill the form and schedule an interview to discuss your dream internship.
2. Interview
During your interview, one of our AIP representatives will ask you questions about your background, past work experiences, internship preferences and goals.
3. Pay Deposit
If you are officially accepted into AIP, you will be asked to confirm your spot in our program with a deposit fee.
4. Placement
Our experienced placement team will match you with your ideal host company and arrange an online interview for you with them.
5. Final Payment
Once your internship has been accepted by yourself and the host company, you will be invoiced for the final payment which will officially confirm your placement.
6. Prepare
After your payment confirmation: For remote internships: We will put you in contact with your host company so that you can start to work right away on your internship. For all the other AIP programs: We will assist you in the visa application process, as well as arranging airport pickup and accommodation (if applicable).
AIPx might be a suitable option for those that are in a hurry. Via AIPx, we will have a confirmed interview for you within 21 working days (The normal process can take up to 8 weeks).
