An internship in Bologna will give you the possibility of exploring a medieval city surrounded by beautiful hills while an internship in Florence will immerse you in Italian renaissance architecture. An internship in Milan instead, will allow you to see the more “new” side of Italy with tall skyscraper and a more contemporary architecture.

While AIP is partnered with a wide range of companies from multinational corporations to exciting startups, there are an abundant amount of opportunities available to pursue in Italy. Whether you want to do an internship during your academic studies or over the summer, we accept applications throughout the whole year.

Internship in Bologna

The Scholar, the Red, the Fat: These are the names that Italians call Bologna, the capital of Emilia Romagna.

The Scholar because it’s the home to one of the most ancient Universities in the world and the oldest in Italy, even today the University of Bologna keeps attracting students both from Italy and from all over the world and it's still an important cultural center.

Bologna the Red because of the color of the roofs and the houses in the city, keeping alive the color tradition of its medieval past.

Bologna the Fat for the tasty and sublime gastronomic tradition: Bologna's cuisine is famous all over the world, does spaghetti Bolognese ring a bell?  

Of course, Bologna is not only this but much more, first of all, the beautiful hills that you definitely need to visit during your internship in Bologna from which you can view the whole city and that is home of the Sanctuary of the Madonna di San Luca. Work culture

Depending on the industry, working hours in Italy are 40 hours per week. Overtime is allowed though limited to 48 hours per week. According to their visa regulations, monetary compensations are given in limited amounts to a few interns in Italy. Most of the time, you will be provided with academic credits, housing, or meals.

Though your Italian language skills can get you a long way when carrying out an internship in Italy. They can be beneficial in helping you negotiate prices or find your way around your city. Your English language skills however are one of the greatest assets you can have in Italy. With them, you are widening your chances of working in large multinational companies since most Italians prefer to speak in their native tongue!

When it comes to communicating with Italians in workplace settings, Italians often look past the language barriers. Forging new friendships or professional relationships in Italy is relatively easy when compared with its neighbors. To get along well with Italians, go with the flow; join in on the conversations— even if you are a beginner in the Italian language! You will be surprised by how your personal relationships with your colleagues blossom.

Applicants holding a passport from any EU country or from the UK do not need any kind of Visa or documents to do an Internship in Italy

For applicants outside of the EU both a Visa and some specific documentation are required, these vary based on the applicant nationality and locality.

Our process

1. Apply
Click "Apply Now", fill the form and schedule an interview to discuss your dream internship.
2. Interview
During your interview, one of our AIP representatives will ask you questions about your background, past work experiences, internship preferences and goals.
3. Pay Deposit
If you are officially accepted into AIP, you will be asked to confirm your spot in our program with a deposit fee.
4. Placement
Our experienced placement team will match you with your ideal host company and arrange an online interview for you with them.
5. Final Payment
Once your internship has been accepted by yourself and the host company, you will be invoiced for the final payment which will officially confirm your placement.
6. Prepare
After your payment confirmation: For remote internships: We will put you in contact with your host company so that you can start to work right away on your internship. For all the other AIP programs: We will assist you in the visa application process, as well as arranging airport pickup and accommodation (if applicable).
AIPx might be a suitable option for those that are in a hurry. Via AIPx, we will have a confirmed interview for you within 21 working days (The normal process can take up to 8 weeks).
